The Commanding and Executive Officers of U.S.S. Coronado command the ship, and direct the actions of the other officers. When the ship receives a mission from Starfleet Command, it is the duty of the Commanding Officer to complete that mission. A starship CO with the rank of Captain or higher has the authority to negotiate treaties and interpret Starfleet General Orders, subject to a review. The "old man" is the overall arbiter of Starfleet policy, and is ultimately responsible for the actions of every member of the ship's crew. The XO's job is to present the CO with a well-run ship and crew capable of completing missions ordered by Starfleet Command, with the assistance of the Chief of Operations and the department heads. With the exception of the Marines (that have their own chain of command), every officer aboard Coronado reports to the Executive Officer.

Starfleet's frigates are generally smaller starships with smaller staffs, and as such, must often combine differing departments and positions. Aboard Coronado, the normal Flight Controller's job is combined with the Operations Manager's into a position known as Flight Operations. This officer is responsible for the ship's course, position, and "attitude" -- the direction the ship is facing when confronting another vessel, for instance. This is an important job; if Flight Ops is not paying attention to what the ship is being asked to do, weapons might not bear on their targets, or the ship's lateral sensors might be worthless to the science teams trying to use them. Flight Ops is also tasked with managing the mission resoucres of the starship, including power, consumables, sensors, and shuttlecraft operations.

He is not easily excitable, but does raise his voice on occasion when needed. He has a signature charismatic brashness that is undeniable in appearance.
Command Style:	On Stardate 240206.10, William Daren was promoted to the rank of Captain and given command of the Whitestone Task Force flagship U.S.S. Coronado. His style of command is an evolution of experiences brought with him from his days as head of the Tactical/Security Staff on the ship. He is quick to act, and very decisive. On the surface, these qualities may be read as an inexperienced aggressive youth, but Daren to be understood is very much a passive person. He is open to suggestions from his command staff and Executive Officer (Commander Darek Smith) with whom he shares a strong, yet whimsical working relationship. He is very aware of the responsibility that he is now entrusted with and does not take it lightly. He feels his solemn duty is to the lives of each and every member of his crew. He will protect them, and he will lead them home.   Daren is not afraid to embrace his youth. Some have compared him to a young Mackenzie Calhoun. He realizes that his age and position make him somewhat unique, but believes strongly that he wouldn't be where he is if it wasn't for his hard work and dedication to Starfleet and the ship named Coronado.
Interests:	William Daren has many personal interests. He mostly enjoys activities that are relaxing. It's common to find him enjoying a drink and the view from Seventh Heaven or time on the Holodeck. He's not much of a social creature with those he doesn't already know well or respect, but he does enjoy the company of others he trusts. He also considers himself quite a card player and has a personal holodeck recreation of a casino for the purposes of fulfilling his 'gambling fix.'
Personal History:
Childhood:	On Stardate 237205.10 William Robert Daren was born to parents: Robert and Lara Daren. The birth was by no means a common one. Robert and Lara Daren were in the Runabout U.S.S. Rubicon bound for the planet Bajor when Lara went into labor. Robert Daren delivered his own son in the rear of the vessel while the computer piloted the craft safely to the planet's surface.   William Daren was generally a happy child, but it was clear he was a bit of an outsider when it came to social situations. He was always a bit quieter and reserved then the other children in school. He favored careful activities such as playing with building blocks or modeling clay to the group activities such as sports.
Young Adulthood:	Life on a space station can be particularly hard on a child. William was raised primarily by his mother while his father was involved in the war against the Dominion. He was a curious child. The Constable Odo found him crawling in the Stations Jeffries Tubes on numerous occasions. As he matured, William found himself many times at odds with authority figures such as his parents and the station's security staff. He was never destructive, but he was certainly classified by some as "overly curious".
Adulthood:	When William reached the age of 18 he was promptly shipped off to Starfleet Academy. He joined the ranks of Starfleet Cadets and soon enough he was playing with real tricorders and real phasers -- it was his childhood fantasy come true...

Year One:	William Daren enlisted and excelled in his first year of classes at the Academy. However in the 11th month he received a communication from his mother on DS9. She told him his father was dead and he should come out to attend to the services.   His father was onboard a Federation starship on the Cardassian border when it was attacked by a trio of Cardassian border patrol ships. According to the Cardassians the ship had violated the border treaty and it was fired upon for refusing to return to Federation space. Daren refused to let his father's death go so easily. He left his studies at the Academy and was not heard from until Stardate 239501.15 when he finally returned to re-enlist four years later. It is still a mystery just exactly when happened to Daren in those four years...
Year Two:	After returning to the Academy he was given credit for his first year of studies and told to continue where he left off. At 23 years old he was considerably older then most other cadets in his classes and this caused him to be isolated from most everyone else. It was this year that he made the choice to enter the Tactical Program and he was quickly on his way to becoming an Officer on a Starship some day, but he was still continually made aware by his fellow Cadets that his age he could practically be a Lieutenant by now. Things were never very good for him socially.
Year Three & Four:	With every passing year Daren became more likable among his peers and he continued to excel in his studies. In his fourth year, just 3 months to graduation he began searching the Starfleet Databases for open posts aboard Starships. He had picked out a few of the finest ships in the fleet and sent out his Academy Records and Grade Reports. He was overjoyed when he heard he had been chosen to serve aboard the U.S.S. Coronado...it was his first choice for postings and he eagerly packed his things even though Graduation was still weeks away...
Starfleet History:
Early Years: (240001.24 - 240007.03)	Cadet William Daren is the new kid on the block. He steps out of the Academy and into a larger world. At this moment in his life he truly has no idea what to expect next. He is a diligent worker in the department. He reports on time for duty, and always gives his best. His focus and attention to detail allowed him to be noticed by his superiors on the ship. Quickly he was promoted to Ensign and made Chief of Tactical. In time, his hard work and dedication pay off as he is made full Lieutenant as his responsibilities aboard the ship increase. He is still somewhat a reserved member of the ship's senior staff, generally keeping to himself and flying under the radar.
New Job: (240007.03 - 240104.30)	This is a time when William Daren's star really shines, as he becomes a more recognized member of the Senior Staff. He is no longer overly timid and offers his opinions and viewpoints to the Captain easily and without hesitation. He is recognized with the bulk of his awards and commendations during this time period. He becomes a risk taker and the first few cracks in the shell around him begin appearing. Things open up and his reinvented self seems to gain in popularity as he is entrusted with the position of Executive Officer, the Captain's right hand man and second in command of the ship.
The Accident: (240109.10)	During an Away Mission to investigate an 'Accursed' (later known as the Pfhor) vessel Commander Daren suffered an amazing loss. The vessel's interior was lined with a biological 'skin' that enveloped Lieutenant Farley while he was investigating the ships command area. Daren, concerned for the Engineer, rushed to the man's aid causing nearly his entire right arm to become enveloped by the skin as well. With the ship under heavy attack it became apparent they needed to leave, and quickly. Unable to get a full transporter lock, Daren was beamed back to the ship directly, leaving behind his right arm. He appears on the transporter pad bleeding heavily and barely alive.   He is immediately brought to Sickbay where his situation is stabilized. In the coming days he chooses, along with the assistance of Chief Medical Officer Ungtae Brie, to have the limb "regrown" instead of replaced with some enhanced bio-mechanic hybrid. He begins a long endurance test of treatments and physical therapy before he returns to full active duty.
Coro's Attack and Aftermath: (240109.10 - 240201.28)	Just as Commander William Daren is finishing his rehabilitation and getting back to the lifestyle as ship's second in command, a Pfhor weapon of nearly unbelievable power strikes the vessel. The ship is physically speared and nearly cut in half causing many casualties and a shock to the crew's system. It becomes apparent that Coronado will not fly for sometime. For Daren and those under him, the adjustment to being planet-bound is a rough one. He copes the only way he knows how, by pouring himself into his work and not looking back. This time also is especially hard for him due to the loss of Ungtae Brie whom was solely responsible for Daren's comeback following his accident. In the months leading up to her death he felt as close to her as perhaps any woman he had ever known.
Reconstruction: (240201.28 - 240206.10)	Coronado completes her refit in the Pitstop system and Daren along with the other officers and crew are more then happy to get her going again. This becomes a very ominous time for William Daren. He feels confident in his position as Executive Officer, yet there are several who may notice him becoming more and more distant from the crew. He begins courting again, this time a fellow XO: Mishelle Singer of U.S.S. Gryphon. The fact that they are rarely in the same sector seems to help their relationship along in many ways. Even those close to Daren haven't a clue about this one.
Captain William Daren: (240206.10 - present)	Life gets more difficult for William Daren in M64. Despite the fact that the crew around him seems unphased by the simple fact that they may never see the Milky Way again, Daren believes that every step he takes in M64 brings him closer to home, even if it is just in his mind. Just when he believes there isn't possibly any way he could be given more responsibility on the ship, he is promptly knocked on his butt: Tebrun Lora Kor is promoted to Rear Admiral. Coronado needed a principle commander and Daren was chosen. He is still growing into his new posting and his first command. He is always aware of the fact that he has his critics, and their numbers may be growing. The increased tensions of late have been bothersome and bruising to the psyche, but he knows that if he does what he can to maintain order and stability among those on the ship, the next big success can be lurking around the corner.

Description:	Tall and athletically built, Velorna Tal is quite an imposing, though strikingly beautiful, figure. Raised on Vulcan, she grew accustomed to the higher gravity. Thus she has an advantage over most any opponent in hand-to-hand combat situations. Though despite being raised amoung the "Galaxy's Logicians," Tal is often seen wearing a bemused smile.
Notes:	Tal was attacked by a fellow classmate while at the Academy and still bears the scar on her neck from the near-fatal injuries sustained.

Notes:	Her adopted father, Starfleet Admiral Dev Wallace, raised Tal on Vulcan. She knew no other family other than the mysterious Academy professor. Admiral Wallace, while acting as an observer during a training cruise, was lost with all hands aboard the ship he had once commanded, U.S.S. Archimedes, six years ago. Tal had been out of the Academy for less than a year at that point, and her life had been shattered by Wallace's disappearance.   She spent more than six months in therapy with Counselor Tollory at Starbase 347. She was finally returned to active duty and certified fit. She has shown no signs of the depression that afflicted her during those six months in over five years. Wallace's equally mysterious return may have had something to do with that.   Tal is extremely loyal to the Federation and Starfleet, but her first loyalties lie with the people who have been a part of her life for so long - Admiral's Lora Kor, Wallace, Aldur, and Marshall; Captain Jarod Bentall; Captain Beth Wallace and the crew of Panache. Tal has been known to undertake special missions on occasion for most or all of these individuals, whether they conflicted with her loyalties to the Federation and Starfleet or not.
Interests:	Tal is a superb pilot and enjoys spending time in the flight simulators and in the cockpit of her Spectre-class fighter. Because of her duties, however, she rarely has the opportunity to fly in combat situations, which suits her just fine. Tal also finds the time to read up on technical, medical, and scientific journals from around the Federation. Her fascination with learning came from her adopted father, who taught her "to stop learning is to stop living."
Personal History:
Background:	Little is known about Tal's Rihannsu birth family. She remembers little of them other than that she was separated from them at a young age and that they were merchants. Tal was sold into the custody of an unscrupulous Ferengi Daimon named Remka and lived the life of a slave from the time she was three until she was nine.   It was at this time that then-Fleet Captain Dev Wallace, commanding U.S.S. Archimedes on a mission for Starfleet Intelligence, uncovered Remka's slave driving business and put a stop to the Ferengi's unethical practices, arresting Remka and picking up the young Rihanna in the process. Following a heated argument with the Federation Council and Starfleet Command, Wallace was allowed to step down as Archimedes' commander and to move to Vulcan and teach at the Academy Annex there so that he could raise the child as his own.   With Wallace's support and training, Velorna Tal grew to learn the ways of the Federation and developed a love for Starfleet and all that they did - exploration, defense, research. She never decided to embrace the ways of her Vulcan "cousins", despite the years she spent among them. When she reached 18 Solar years of age, Wallace sponsored Tal's admission to the Academy. Her fellow classmates at the Academy rarely accepted Tal, and she found it very hard to deal with the racism that she found among those that were supposed to be some of the brightest and most enlightened minds in the Federation.   During her second year, just prior to her participation in the Academy's Commencement and Commissioning exercises, Andorian classmate Cadet Ar'noth Porada attacked Cadet Tal. Porada was court martialed for the crime and removed from the Academy. He is now currently serving a term at the Deep Space 12 Rehabilitation facilities.   Though she recovered, Tal was scarred both physically and emotionally by the incident. Yet somehow, she has managed to keep a cheerful disposition and has not let the one attack make her bitter towards any person. It is speculated that Tal underwent some informal training with Vulcan Kohlinar Master Stovek, a friend of her father's, while she recovered at her father's house on Vulcan.   Following her graduation from the Academy, Tal was assigned as a pilot and assistant security officer at Starbase 347. It was while there that she last saw Dev Wallace, by that time a retired admiral and an observer for Starfleet Academy. The Archimedes was reported missing seventeen days after leaving Starbase 347. Thus far, no survivors have been found; it is not known if there has been any contact with Wallace since that day. Some speculate that he is still alive, since he was known to fake his death once before.   During the months that followed Wallace's mysterious disappearance, Tal suffered from severe depression and was removed from active duty. She began to undergo therapy with the station's counselor, Dr. Dryden Milar Tollory. Following six months of sessions with the counselor, Tal was restored to her original post.   She was promoted to Lieutenant, j.g., shortly thereafter and given the almost daunting job of Deputy Chief of Security for the entire Starbase 347 station. She held that post with much distinction until being promoted to full lieutenant and being given the post that she had longed for since before her entrance to the Academy - chief security officer of a starship.   Tal was ecstatic when she learned of her posting to U.S.S. Coronado. She had often heard her father speak fondly of the ship's predecessor and her crew. Tal jumped at the chance to take a posting on the successor to that ship that her late father so loved. She served as chief tactical officer and acting commanding officer during the final phases of construction and pre-launch pending the posting of a full-time commander. Following Tebrun Kor's assignment as CO, Tal was promoted and given the position of XO.   Four months later Starfleet Intelligence called up Tal for a special mission within Romulan space. The details are classified, but it is known that while en route to rendezvous with the Starfleet Intelligence starship Brilliant Dawn, Tal's shuttle was destroyed and Tal was rescued by a Romulan starship. Tal was returned to Confederation space five months later, where she was rejoined with Coronado's crew as their chief science and intelligence officer.   After a brief stint with Federation Intelligence, Tal was reactivated as a part of the war effort against the Romulans and Klingons in 2401. Though supposed to join the crew of the starship Odyssey at the Hayashi system, Tal was still aboard the starship Panache when Odyssey and her entire taskforce vanished into a Traxati hypergate.   Tal and Panache learned where exactly the missing taskforce had gone when the ship entered with a group of Whitestone Enterprises craft over a year later. Finding Odyssey, along with Renegade, Coronado, and numerous other ships engaged in all-out war with the local hostile forces of M64, the Pfhor Hegemony, Panache joined the fight she found.   With the majority of that conflict now ended, Tal has found herself enjoying a somewhat lighter duty. She recently rejoined her colleagues on Coronado following the suicide of their former first officer, Commander Darek Smith. Finding herself once again at home, Tal is happy to offer her services where needed as Executive Officer of that historic ship once more.

Early life:	Maiko D'rall is the daughter of Melissa Davion and Salem D'rall, who were both descendants of the two of the U.S.S. Churchill's crew, Charles Davion and Drova D'rall. Drova was one of three Alpha Centaurians in the Churchill's crew, while the rest of Maiko's ancestors were Terran, making her a quarter Centaurian.   Maiko's youth was filled with stories from her grandparents about life in the Federation and in Starfleet; at the age of 8 she wandered off into the Reorsan wilderness on what she called 'an away mission' which turned into a three day hunt in the wilderness by authorities for the missing Maiko when she didn't return home that night as promised. Fustrated at being lost in the wilderness, Maiko began to spend time learning how to determine position on Reor by examining the stars.   As Maiko grew older, she put this knowledge to use, working after school on errands flying ultralights between the various communities. Maiko's reputation as a crack pilot - and her ability to 'feel' the various air currents and prevailing winds to get her to her destination quickly - earned her respect among the communities. At the age of 14,she was apprenticed to one of Reor's Churchill Maintenance teams as a shuttle pilot.   When the U.S.S. Coronado and Task Group 5.4 arrived in system, Maiko's fascination with Starfleet came to the front again. When Reorsa was abandoned by the allied forces in May of 2402, Maiko hijacked one of the maintenance shuttles, and along with twelve other people, was picked up by the U.S.S. Coronado.   Volunteering for duty onboard the starship, Maiko spent the better part of three months in training as a helm officer, finally passing the flight operations exam and earning commission as an Ensign in late August of 2402, when she was assigned to Flight Operations on the U.S.S. Coronado.
Training:	Maiko isn't exactly Starfleet trained; though her time spent on the maintenance team for the Churchill gave her an understanding of the operation of Starfleet consoles and shuttles, most of her flight knowledge comes from several years of flying a courier ultralight. Maiko has passed several holographic helm tutorials as well as her flight exam with slightly higher-than-average scores.   Her scores would have been better had she performed better under the chain of command; because she has only truly had to answer for herself while flying, Maiko tends to make spur-of-the-moment flight decisions. In emergency situations this can be an asset, but for fleet combat maneuvers and normal day-to-day piloting, Maiko finds her quick thinking as much a burden as an asset.   On the positive side, her atmospheric piloting skills are second-to-none with shuttlecraft and ultralights, honed from years of flying. In addition, she is capable of performing simple repairs on shuttles and ultralights.

He spent most of his years traveling the universe, exploring and working odd jobs, mainly bartending, which is something he really enjoys. He loves to experiament, making different drinks and trying them out on his patrons. Normally, they are hits, but he's had a few bombs.

Description:	Though her father looks the perfect handsome muscular marine, Zunite has none of his muscular build. In fact, Zunite barely looks like her father at all, except for some slight facial similarities that go unnoticed unless you're looking for some sign of the relationship. Zunite is very slightly built, from growing up on a station and spending hours in the weightlessness of the Space outside her home. She's not as weak as she looks, however. Zunite works out at least an hour each day, a habit formed through at the insistence of her mother. But Zunite does seem to exemplify the stereotypical female appearance.
Notes:	Zunite's blood is not exactly composed of the same stuff as a normal human. Due to her Jedi heritage, Zunite's blood contains symbiotic beings. Zunite is in tune with the Force. Her mother made sure she was well trained by the time Zunite was sent to boarding school. Zunite can elevate objects, read thoughts and project thoughts by concentrating, and heal quickly. Her muscles are stronger than normal due to her training in the Force and she infrequently has premonitions. She very, very rarely uses anything evolving from the Force, though occasionally she will practice. She is not like her mother, she does not use the Force to transport objects across the room everyday; Zunite prefers walking.

Notes:	Zunite is very intelligent. She can analyze and solve engineering problems at a glance, but she prefers to delegate the work, giving others the experience she already has, unless the work has to be finished in an instant. She's not scared of hard work and normally includes checking over work that has been done as part of her daily duties in Engineering. She has little tolerance for people who insist on making her and her engineers jobs harder by fussing with the equipment on her ship.
Interests:	Zunite enjoys reading, swimming and working out. She also frequents a few different EVA training programs. Occasionally she builds prototypes of the different designs she's thought up; she is always sketching and making notes to about 20 different ideas she's had. She can also be found occasionally talking to Leonard Da Vinci on the holodeck or taking sketching lessons from him.
Pre-Starfleet History:
Personal:	Having been born and raised in the Utopia Planitia shipyards where her mother was an overseer, Zunite grew up around engineering. Due to Ironside's involvement in the Helios 4 incident, Sandra declined to inform him of Zunite's birth and made a purely political marriage to a good friend, Henry Oswald, who had recently lost his wife and newborn child in a shuttle crash. Oswald adopted Zunite a month after her birth and the two grew very close, though Zunite always knew that Oswald wasn't her biological father since she could first understand the idea.   Because a shipyard is no good place to raise a child, let alone school one, Zunite was sent to boarding schools on Earth and Mars from the age of 9. She bitterly hated her time at the boarding school and was extremely upset at her mother for sending her away from the shipyards and Oswald. As Zunite grew up she displayed her disapproval of the different boarding schools through different stunts. At age 14, her mother brought her home for a month and made her do penance for going into her current school's database and changing some of the teacher's names to names that the students called them behind their backs. Zunite refused to talk to her mother for a long time after that, since she claimed that she didn't do it and Sandra had no proof that she did.   After quite a few months of Zunite only talking to Oswald, Sandra pulled a few strings to get Zunite into Starfleet while she was still 15, hoping the change of settings would lighten Zunite's teenage rebellion, and cause the database of her current boarding school to stay untouched. Sandra had to pull quite a few strings and get many psychologists backing to get Zunite into the Academy a year before she would have gone otherwise, since even though Zunite was responsible, her record said otherwise.   A few short weeks after Zunite started at the Academy, Oswald died in a shipyard accident. Zunite was able to falsify her records to say that both her parents were dead, due to Henry having had a previous wife who took his last name and Sandra keeping her own last name. Thus Zunite was able to separate herself from her mother's name by making the subject of her parents an untouchable subject. At age 17, Zunite decided to take a post on a starship. She chose to go into a Science position so that her mother wouldn't bother her, and perhaps would even overlook her being posted. Zunite chose U.S.S. Coronado - the same ship that her mother had started her Starfleet career on. Six months after being posted to Coronado, Zunite switched from science to engineering and then to the flight crew, because she found she missed working directly with the ship. After TPrax left, Zunite assumed the chief engineering post after passing her Academy exams, which she had been putting off for a long time.   Zunite began talking to her mother again shortly after becoming the chief engineer, and was soon informed that in order to put forth a good impression she should give a present to each of the senior staff. After dragging her feet for a really long time, almost a year, Zunite finally managed to get out of doing it by getting her mother to do it for her. Sandra never did pick out the presents for the senior crew - she found out that Ironside was serving on the same ship as Zunite and got a good friend to give her a ride out to Coronado to inform Ironside and Zunite of their relation, and prevent a horrible mishaps. Upon Sandra's arrival Dejat proposed to Zunite, much to the dismay of Sandra, since Dejat was older than both herself and Ironside.   Recently Dejat died, or basically died, and left Zunite unattached again. Zunite still avoids the subject of Dejat's death and refuses to talk about it when brought up - but otherwise shows no sign of being affected by it. Though there have been slight changes in her personality since it happened.
